Access point

If you want to connect your wireless device with a wired network then you need a device named as Access point. Access point provides wireless connection using radio frequency. Access point provides multiple wireless connections at a time. They use the radio frequency to send and receive the data and these frequencies are defined by IEEE. Don’t confuse between the wireless adhoc network and wireless network because adhoc network is a wireless connection between two devices with out any access point.

Most of the access point follows the IEEE 802.11 standards and one IEEE 802.11 can typically communicate with the 30 wireless devices in the range of 103m.  You can extend the range by the using repeaters. Security is the main concern in these networks because if you are using wireless network at your home then any outsider can connect your network. The password of the wireless networks is easy to break.
